Safety Reminders

We all want what is best for students and to keep them safe! Here are a few reminders:

  • Remind your students who ride scooters, bikes, and skateboards to “walk their wheels” on school grounds.
  • Remind your students to keep rocks on the ground!
  • Please use crosswalks and refrain from walking through traffic.
  • Drivers in the drop off / pick up lane MUST remain in their vehicles! If you need to get out of your vehicle, please use a designated parking spot.

Thank you all for being good role models for students!

Lost and Found Items

Families, please make sure to look through all of our Lost and Found area to collect any of your student’s lost items. We have coats, hoodies, backpacks, lunch boxes, and so much more.

Testing Continues

End-of-year testing is occurring for all grades this week. Here are a few things that families can do to prepare students at home:

  • Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast.
  • Make the morning of testing as relaxing as possible by arriving to school on time. Testing begins right away in the morning so students must be to school by 8:15am so they are settled in and ready to begin.
  • Encourage children to focus and pace themselves without rushing. It’s important for them to take their time, and read each question carefully.

Field Day Volunteers Needed!

Field Days are coming! On May 28 and 29, each grade level will go outside for about an hour for our annual Field Days! 1st, 2nd, and 5th grades have Field Day on Wednesday, May 28, and Kindergarten, 3rd and 4th grades have Field Day on Thursday, May 29.

Each class will spend about 10 minutes at 5-6 different games/activities and then rotate to the next one. A school staff member will be facilitating each game/activity, and we would like to have a parent volunteer assist the staff member. For example, if a volunteer is assigned to our Cone Flipping Relay Race, the volunteer would assist 5-6 different classes as they play that game for about 10 minutes each.

We hope that some of you can join us!

A few notes for our potential volunteers:

  • All volunteers must have a completed background check through the District: https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/depts/external-relations/volunteer/
  • All volunteers must sign up on the sign-up list in ParentSquare (or contact the office and we will assist you in signing up).
  • Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and shoes and be prepared for the weather and some physical activity (bring sunscreen, water, etc.).
  • Volunteers will be assigned to a specific game/activity facilitated by a school staff member.
  • Volunteers may not bring other children along for their volunteer shift.
