Thrive Time Weekly Focus

In Thrive Time lessons this week, we will start our Digital Citizenship lessons. Being a good digital citizen means making smart choices online, protecting our private information, showing kindness in digital spaces, and remembering that our online actions affect real people.

Prizes for Attendance!

Students have started earning a TICKET for each FULL WEEK that they are here in school. Every month at our CEO Awards, tickets will be drawn so students can earn prizes for their great attendance. The more tickets students earn, the greater chance they have of winning!
In school, on time, every day….EVERY DAY COUNTS!

Mural at Midvale Elementary!

We are working on a mural for our school and we want our school community to be a part of it! If you and your student(s) would like to come to paint on Friday, October 10, after school, please reply to this message or send a ParentSquare message to Heidi Sanger to sign up! We will essentially be painting the areas as directed by the artist, so no particular art skills are required. We will start painting at approximately 1:30pm. Adults must have an approved Volunteer Application through Canyons School District; you can access that application here: https://volunteer.canyonsdistrict.org/volunteersystem/#!/application/volunteer

Book Blitz Jr.

We have a new opportunity for our Midvale Elementary students this year! Book Blitz Jr. is a literacy competition for 3rd – 5th graders, designed to foster a love of reading by introducing students to a variety of books by acclaimed authors outside of the school curriculum.

The program encourages reading and writing and provides prizes and incentives along the way to encourage participation. Participants read at least 4 books from a list of 12 District-chosen books and turn in a short summary, compete in teams using their collective knowledge of the books, culminating in a grade-level competition in the spring. The winning team will continue on to the District level to compete against other winning teams!

Students will meet after school on Mondays once per month in October, November, and December, and more frequently in January-March to prepare for competition.

Please contact Heidi Sanger on ParentSquare with any questions. To register your student, click here to complete the form or scan the QR Code above.

Thanksgiving Meals

Thanksgiving Heroes is again offering full, uncooked Thanksgiving meals: a turkey, potatoes, etc. for families to prepare during Thanksgiving week. Deliveries will be taking place anytime on Saturday, November 22nd.

Individual cooked meals are also available through Teachers for Hope, which are delivered on Thursday, November 27, Thanksgiving Day.

If you feel that one of these options would be helpful for your family and you would like a meal provided to you, application forms are available in the front office at the school. Applications are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Please complete only one application per family.
