Chief Example for Others (CEO) Character Trait for January

Thrive Time Focus of the Week
We are moving onto our next Thrive Time unit called Resolving Conflict. When we understand what causes conflicts and recognize how they make us feel, we can choose better ways to solve them, like using calm words for small conflicts or asking for help with bigger ones. Let’s make our week great by remembering that all conflicts, no matter their size, can be solved when we take time to understand our emotions and think about positive solutions!
Family Matters Friday
We invite families to our next Family Matters Friday on January 23 at 7:30am. We will have donuts and activities, and Mrs. Laurel Caldwell will be sharing information about how to support your students during tests and assessments. When the bell rings, we invite you to head to class with your student for Morning Meeting (please refrain from bringing young children to classrooms). We will see you there!
WIDA ACCESS Testing Begins Soon!
To our families of Multilingual Learners (children who are, or have been, consistently exposed to multiple languages especially at home):
We wanted to share important information regarding the upcoming WIDA ACCESS Testing, which will begin the week of January 26th. Additional information is also being sent home with your child if they qualify for this testing. Also, join us at the Family Matters Friday event on Friday morning at 7:30am to learn more and ask questions (see flyer above)!
The WIDA ACCESS test measures our students’ English language proficiency across four language domains: reading, listening, speaking, and writing.
The testing schedule will be as follows:
WIDA ACCESS: Reading and Listening Test
Week of January 26-30
WIDA ACCESS: Speaking Test
Week of February 2-6
WIDA ACCESS: Writing Test
Week of February 9-13
The aim of this test is to give teachers a better understanding of each student’s current language skills and identify areas where they may need further support. This will allow teachers to better tailor their instruction more effectively to student need.
Below, are some good reminders for the upcoming test,
- Get good rest during the weeks of testing.
- Eat a healthy breakfast before testing.
- Do your best! There’s no need to study, as this test measures what students already know.
We are excited for our students to participate in this important assessment. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your support!
Where is your coat???
Our Lost and Found area has lost sweatshirts, sweaters, coats, backpacks, water bottles, and more. PLEASE come and get your student’s items and remind them to keep track of their clothing at all times. Thank you for helping our students learn responsibility!
