Welcome Back, Midvale Elementary Families!
A Message from our Principal
Welcome back, Midvale families! We are so excited to begin a new school year with you! This year, we have three important priorities we want to focus on together.
First, we will Expect Excellence. We believe every student is capable of excellence every day, by trying their best, working hard, and making choices that help them grow.
Second, we need our students here every day. Students can’t learn if they aren’t at school. Please make attendance a priority and help your child be at school, ready to learn, every day.
Finally, we want to partner with our families. Helping students learn is a team effort, and we need you! Throughout the year, we’ll share ideas and resources to help you support your child’s learning at home.
We are excited for an incredible year, and we are so grateful to have you as part of our Midvale family! Together, let’s expect excellence!
School Begins Wednesday, August 19, for Kindergarten
Kindergarteners will cross the red carpet in the Kindergarten playground area on their first day of school when the bell rings at 8:15am. Parents are asked to say goodbye to their students and then head to the courtyard east of the playground. Principal Mackay will be welcoming and sharing information with Kindergarten families at 8:20am when the second bell rings.
Family Handbooks Coming Soon!
Our Midvale Elementary Student and Family Handbooks will be sent home soon with students. We ask that you review them with your students and sign and return the form included with your handbook.
Included in the handbook is a note about bringing personal items at school. Please make sure that your student is keeping personal items such as toys, balls to play with at recess, etc., at home. Thank you for supporting these efforts.
Also, Canyons School District has a wonderful resource page, School Safety Tips. Please check it out!

Get Involved in the School Community Council
Serving on the School Community CouncilServing on our School Community Council is a wonderful way for parents and teachers to contribute and help improve academic performance at our school. The school receives an annual dividend from the school trust lands. Our council decides how these funds will be used. Last year our school received $109,511.98 from the School LAND Trust Program. The council reviews and prepares other academic plans for our students each year. All plans are reviewed for final approval by our school board. Councils also act in an advisory capacity to school and school district administrations.
Qualifications
Every public school in Utah has a School Community Council. The councils are made up of school employees who are elected by employees and parents of students attending the school. Membership terms are for two years. Elections are held at the beginning of each school year.
Parent members must have a student attending the school at least one of the two years of their term of service. Employees must be employed by the school district at the school.
