In School, On time, Every Day – Attendance Matters!

It’s a fresh new school year; let’s start off right with making sure kids are in school, on time, every day.
What happens for students when they are absent?

  • Missed learning opportunities
  • Decreased academic performance
  • Less likely to graduate high school
  • Difficulties with social skills
  • Lower self esteem
  • Anxiety and stress about returning to school

Parents and students are jointly responsible for regular attendance at school. All absences are considered unexcused until the parent communicates with the school regarding the student’s absence. Parents must excuse each day of their student’s absence.
Scheduled Pre-Approved Leave includes: an illness, which may be either mental or physical; mental or behavioral health of the school-age child; a family death; an approved school activity; an absence permitted by a school age minor’s individualized education program (IEP) or Section 504 Plan.

  • Students with valid excused absences will be expected to make up missing work and assignments at home.

If you are struggling to get your student to school, we are here to support you. Please reach out to your child’s teacher and/or our principal/assistant principals. We have a school social worker and a school counselor who are also ready to support your student.

Student and Family Handbooks

Student and Family Handbooks are being sent home. Families are asked to review the entire handbook with their student(s) and sign the final page, returning just the page to teachers.

Please be sure to review the Parking Lot and Loading/Unloading Procedures so we can all work together to keep students safe. Please use crosswalks at all times so we are all teaching students to cross streets and parking lots safely.

The Handbook can also be found on our website for families to consult at any time.
