Monday Mustang Message

December 4 – 8, 2023
  • Attendance Update: Our attendance has been pretty consistent this year at approximately 90%, which is so much better than last year. Hooray! However, attendance is starting to decrease a little bit; last week the average was 87%. Please help us make sure that students are learning and growing by ensuring that they are here at school, on time and on task. You can’t grow if you don’t show! Thank you, families!

  • Digital Citizenship Tips: How much screen time is too much? Not all screen time is created equal. There’s a big difference between an hour spent playing video games and an hour spent learning vocabulary from a smartphone app or composing music online. That’s not to say that everything has to be stamped “educational” to provide an enriching experience. With any screen media you choose for your kids — movies, games, TV shows, and apps — you want to look for how it engages your child (click here). And, although there’s nothing wrong with a little mindless entertainment, you can maximize your kid’s screen time if you consider the “four C’s”: Connection, Critical Thinking, Creativity, & Context. Visit Canyons School District’s “Digital Wellness” page to learn more.

Looking Ahead:

  • Tuesday, December 12: Free Groceries at our monthly Mobile Food Pantry, 3:05pm. One bag per family.
  • Friday, December 15: Special Surprise for Students at School!
  • Monday, December 18: Wear a holiday shirt!
  • Tuesday, December 19: Pajama Day!
  • Tuesday, December 19: Holiday Student Sing-Along Assembly in the morning and Pizza Party at the end of the school day
