Monday Mustang Message
January 2 – 5, 2024
- Happy New Year, and welcome back to school! We are so excited to see our students again!
- Did you know? A whopping 59% of preteens and teens surveyed by Common Sense reported using their phones between midnight and 5 a.m. on school nights. We do see some sleepy students at school, and they will often admit to using their devices late into the night, which sure makes learning difficult. Common Sense Media has practical tips to help kids establish a healthy balance between phones and sleep. https://cnyns.org/48k6C2P
- Canyons District’s Medicaid Outreach Office will help families sign up for a new Children’s Health Insurance Program available to all Utah children starting on Jan. 1, 2024. Assistance is available on Jan. 4, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Canyons Center, Canyons District Office, 9361 S. 300 East, Sandy. No appointment is required. This program is available to all children, regardless of immigration status. Only 2,000 spots are available across the entire state. Open enrollment will close after the spots are filled.
- Are you wondering where to find resources for yourself or for others you know? Utah 211 is the state’s leading resource network connecting Utahns in need with local health and social services. Someone is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and translation is available as well. Just dial 211 from your cell phone, or go to their website at https://211utah.org/ and click for the resources you need.
Looking Ahead:
