Monday Mustang Message

January 30 – February 3, 2023
  • Digital Citizenship Tip of the Month: Try planning a device-free dinner! Taking a break from devices is proven to have positive benefits for kids, from better nutrition and focus at home to fewer problems at school. Learn more about the benefits of device-free dinners at Common Sense Media.

  • Attendance Message: Regular attendance helps your child feel like an important part of their class. Asking children about their school day helps them succeed. For tips on how to get kids talking, check out this article from Scholastic: 10 Questions to Ask Your Child.
    • Weekly Numbers for January 23 – 27:
      • We had an average of 91 students absent each day last week, with 118 students gone on Friday. That is the equivalent of an entire grade out of the building.
      • This Friday, and several of the next few Fridays, we will be doing drawings for gift cards and other prizes. Of course, students MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!

  • The character trait for the month of February is COMPASSION. Compassion is the desire to help when a need is discovered, or simply caring for others. We will be talking about how to show compassion to others all month in morning meetings and throughout the day. Ask your student how they can be a Chief Example to Others and show compassion at home and in the community!

  • Our Building Leader Team, consisting of our Principal, Assistant Principals, Instructional Coaches, a Teacher from each grade level and the resource team, worked together to create a set of Midvale Commitments. These were shared with our faculty, and now we would like to share them with our families. Each week we will share one of the six areas of focus:

Extra Time & Support

We commit to intentionally collaborate & support our team.

We commit to purposely support students by targeting their individual needs.

We commit to provide meaningful interventions that support mastery of skills.
