Monday Mustang Message – March 27 – 31, 2023

Monday Mustang Message

March 27 – 31, 2023

  • This is the last week of March Reading Month! Keep encouraging your students to read and mark down their minutes on their weekly Reading Logs, which are due on Friday. The classes with the most minutes will earn a class party after Spring Break!

  • This week we will be drawing names for prizes from those who have turned in their parent CAYCI surveys! Who will win???

  • Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 28, we will be having our Travel the World: Family Literacy Adventure Night from 6:00-8:00pm!
    • Food Trucks! We will have empanadas, tacos, samosas, and falafel! Families will pay $1 per item, and the school will pay the rest of the cost of each item. Get your food at the food truck, and then bring it in to enjoy in the cafeteria!
    • Students will get a “passport” and then “travel” to different countries throughout the school and learn more about them! Countries include Spain, India, Afghanistan, Mexico, Colombia, and Peru. Student work will be displayed in the grade level area, and families will be able to see the work, explore information about each country, and do a craft or activity in each area.
    • Once the “passport” is stamped in each “country,” students may pick out a brand new book to take home!

  • We will be hosting a HEAT Outreach Event on Thursday, March 30, from 8:30am – 12:30pm.
    • The HEAT Program can help with utility bills. You will need to bring: current photo ID, social security cards for everyone living in the home, recent utility bills, proof of income for last calendar month for EACH adult.

  • Families, please note this change to our dress code: During school hours while inside the building and all classrooms, we are asking students to remove their hoodies, hats and beanies.  We have been having issues with some students using their hoodies to hide, and cover their faces during instruction in class.   Students are still allowed to wear a hoodie, but may not pull the hood over their head in the building.  Hats and beanies for recess may be worn outside, but must be kept in their backpack or locker during the day. There will be days that we have school-wide rewards that allow all of us to wear hats (no hoods) on a Friday. We look forward to those fun days!  Thank you for your support!

  • East Midvale Elementary School (6990 S 300 E, Midvale) is hosting a Utah Partners for Health Mobile Vision Clinic for adults on Thursday, March 30, from 9:00am – 2:00 pm. Please call 385-204-6257 for an appointment. Space is limited to 20 adults.

Looking Ahead:
