Digital Citizenship: Being Alert Online
Teaching our students to be alert online is just as important as teaching them to look both ways before crossing the street. Here’s what being alert looks like in the digital world:
Pause Before You Post: Encourage your student to think twice before sharing anything online. Does it spread kindness? Does it protect their privacy?
Spot the Red Flags: Help them recognize unsafe websites, suspicious links, and messages from strangers. Not everything online is what it seems.
Create Safe Spaces: Talk about how their online actions affect others. Being respectful and positive makes the internet a safer place for everyone.
As a reminder, CSD parents/guardians have access to the CSD Technology Portal at https://tcp.canyonsdistrict.org/filter/to view and modify the Internet filtering level for their student(s), view flagged search terms, view Chromebook login time and request sites to be reviewed.
