It is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!
Our teachers and staff work so hard each day to support our students to learn and grow. This is a special week to celebrate and honor them, to show our appreciation for them!
Our PTA has some fun suggestions for the week:
Monday, May 4: Draw a picture of your teacher
Tuesday, May 5: Wear your teacher’s Favorite Color Day
Wednesday, May 6: Compliment Day-tell your teacher all the things you like about them
Thursday, May 7: Write your teacher a thank you note
Friday, May 8: Surprise your teacher with their favorite drink, a favorite treat, a card, or anything that makes them feel special.
RISE Testing Continues This Week
End-of-year testing, called RISE, continues this week for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Make-up testing will be held on Fridays and the week of May 11.
In addition, Acadience testing will be on Wednesday, May 6, for grades 3-5 and on Thursday, May 7, for grades K-2.
Here are a few things that families can do to prepare students at home:
- Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast.
- Make the morning of testing as relaxing as possible by arriving to school on time. Testing begins right away in the morning so students must be to school by 8:15am so they are settled in and ready to begin.
- Encourage children to focus and pace themselves without rushing. It’s important for them to take their time, and read each question carefully.
Tuesday is our next Fresh Produce Market
Our Fresh Produce Market will be available again tomorrow as well as next Tuesday. A parent/guardian can pick up a bag of fresh fruit and vegetables at no cost. It is first come, first served; we have a limited number of bags. The bags are typically ready to go by 2:00pm. We will have them inside in the entryway and then move them to tables outside so please check both locations. We are so pleased to be able to offer this opportunity for our families once again!

🎪 The PTA School Carnival will be Friday, May 8, from 5:00-7:30pm.
- Unlimited Ride Only wristbands: $10
- Rides AND Games wristbands: $12
- OR Tickets for individual activities 4/$1
- Concessions between $1 – $6. Lots of FOOD and FUN! Snow Cones too!
- Everyone is invited – bring the whole family! Please note that adult supervision is not provided by the school, PTA, or event staff. Parents/guardians are responsible for their children.
Financial Literacy Class for Adults
Cypress Credit Union will be in our Family Learning Center for a set of classes on Financial Literacy for Adults, including credit basics and budgeting. The last classes will be held at 9:40am on May 4th & 5th. Please join us – all are welcome!
Big Smiles Dental Clinic is Coming
Big Smiles Dental Clinic will be here this week, May 4-6. Consent forms are available in the office; you may also complete the consent form online here: https://www.myschooldentist.com/MECAUT_schsrm if you are interested in having your students go to the dentist here at school. Please be sure to complete all requested information.
