Chief Example for Others (CEO) Character Trait for November
Responsibility
Thrive Time Weekly Focus
In Thrive Time lessons this week, we’re learning that our brains are like control centers that help us handle big emotions. Everyone can learn calming strategies – like taking deep breaths, counting slowly, or finding a quiet space – and the more we practice these calming strategies, the better we become at managing our emotions. Let’s make our week great by remembering that we all have the power to calm our bodies and minds, using our coping strategies when big feelings arise, and knowing that staying calm helps our brains make better choices!
Dìa de Muertos Altar
Our teachers, staff, and parents have worked extremely hard to put together this amazing display in honor of Día de Muertos. In particular, we would like to thank Maestra Lucia de la Cruz for her vision, creativity, design, coordination, and facilitation of this beautiful altar, as well as parents Ariana Orozco and Marisol Salcedo for the days of work they put into turning our Mustang into an alebrije.
We invite families to visit our Día de Muertos altar during the following times:
After school: Monday, November 3, through Thursday, November 6, from 3:05-3:30pm.
Before School: Tuesday, November 4, through Friday, November 7, from 7:50-8:15am.
Veterans Day
On Tuesday, November 11, we will be honoring United States Veterans with a display on our Grand Staircase. We need your help!
If you have a family member who has served (or is serving) in any military branch, please click HERE and complete the requested information by Friday, November 7. We will be displaying these pictures for Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11.
If you have sent this information in the past, please reply to this message and we will include veteran in the display. If your veteran is able to visit your student’s classroom on Veterans Day, please also reply to this message or notify Heidi Sanger.
Classes have also been invited to write and decorate thank you cards that will be sent to local veterans and veterans’ organizations.
