Thrive Time Focus of the Week
During Thrive Time this week, we will learn that even when we feel disappointed or receive feedback that’s hard to hear, we can respond in ways that show respect for ourselves and others. Being respectful means knowing how to give compliments, use encouraging words, and disagreeing with others in a way that shows we value their perspective. Let’s make this week amazing by managing our disappointments with grace, accepting feedback as a chance to grow, and remembering that we can disagree with someone’s ideas while still treating them with respect!
Vaccine Clinic TODAY!
A Vaccine Clinic will be held TODAY, Tuesday, September 22, from 3:00 – 6:00pm at the Canyons District Office, 9361 S 300 E, Sandy.
Looking for Advanced Learning Opportunities for Your Child?
Does your child have an insatiable curiosity, a need to explore subjects in surprising depth, or ability to quickly learn complex information? If so, your student may be a candidate for Canyons School District’s SALTA magnet program. SALTA, Supporting Advanced Learners Toward Achievement, serves students who demonstrate significantly high cognitive and academic abilities in comparison to their peers. Students in kindergarten through the seventh grade can apply to test into the program starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026. All applications are due at midnight on Friday, Oct. 2.
Due to the time-intensive and rigorous nature of the process for determining a student’s fit for the program, parents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the testing requirements well before completing an application. SORA: Read or Listen to Books for FREE
Did you know that your students can virtually check out e-books and audiobooks to which they can read or listen for FREE?
You can easily download the Sora app and introduce your student to the wide world of books right on your device! Click HERE to find out more!
Students are learning all about SORA in their library classes. They use the same login and password that they use for their other school applications; if they don’t know if, you can ask your child’s teacher!
Book Blitz Jr. for 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders
Book Blitz Jr. is a fun group for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who LOVE reading!
Teams will meet monthly in September, October, November, and December, and weekly after that to prepare for the competition. Students read a minimum of 4-6 books by the beginning of March from a selected list of 12, write summaries, work together as teams, and compete on Battle Day (mid-March) using their collective knowledge of the content of the books — Jeopardy style! The 4th-5th grade winners of our school level Battle Day competition will participate in a district-wide competition in early April. The primary purpose of Book Blitz Jr. is to foster students’ love of reading by introducing them to a wide variety of books by acclaimed authors in multiple formats.

Say Boo to the Flu Immunizations
Community Nursing Services will be here at the school during Family Conferences again on September 23 from 4:00-7:00pm to provide flu vaccinations to students and families who are interested. CNS is able to bill many insurances; reduced and no-cost flu vaccines are available to those who are uninsured and unable to pay.

- Help us earn money for our school! Use the Mobile app or the kiosk inside to order, and Midvale Elementary receives 30% of the revenue from the sale! If you don’t have the app and download it at the restaurant, you will get to spin the wheel and earn a free item.

The Dentist is Coming!
Big Smiles Dental Clinic is coming back to our school November 9-11, 2026. Consent forms will be sent home with students; you may also complete the consent form online here: https://www.myschooldentist.com/MECAUT_schsrm if you are interested in having your students go to the dentist here at school. Please be sure to complete all requested information.
Community Wellness Fair
Our Community Schools are hosting a Community Wellness Fair at Midvale Middle School on Thursday, October 8, from 5:30-7:30pm. Learn about the programs and resources available in our community, including prevention health screenings and free haircuts for students. Free Chick-fil-A sandwiches will be served starting at 5:30pm. We will see you there!
