Welcome
Steve welcomed everyone and thanked everyone for their dedication, particularly Kwame and Alyssa since their son is going to middle school next year. Steve introduced Lyndzi Elsmore, a guest to our meeting today and hopefully an SCC member next year.
- Discussion and vote on approval of the April 29, 2024 meeting minutes
Jason moved to approve the minutes; Alyssa seconded. All approved; motion passed.
- Land Trust / TSSP updates and review
We are in the process of spending down the last of our funds. No questions were noted.
- School Safety Report
We had an actual Secure call this month; everyone did great in following procedures. Our safety drill this month has been Public Health procedures that were all sent to staff. No questions or concerns noted; Steve felt that the reporting to families went as expected.
- Review End of Year Acadience/RISE Data
Carolee reviewed the Acadience data (reading and math). (Enter data here)
The numbers look great. The only area we still remain in Targeted Improvement is in Students with Disabilities.
Questions that were asked:
- Are students who have moved into the school counted in the data (Acadience, Rise)? (Carolee will get this information to make sure it is accurate.)
- Who makes the decisions about who is included in the data? – The State.
- Is there an impact on scores from the students in DLI since they are learning two languages, two letter sounds, etc.? – Carolee noted that the data shows that scores across DLI versus regular classes are pretty similar now versus in previous years.
- Is Attendance one of our goals? – Our School Climate Goal is currently focused on decreasing physical aggression. We have had Attendance as a School Climate Goal in the past; we continue to work on this.
- What is our mobility rate? – We have had 142 new students since Labor Day.
- Other Items:
1. Other topics to present to the council
SRJ10 is a school safety measure put forth by the legislature in regard to having a school guardian who is trained to carry a secured weapon. Kristine expressed concern about this measure; Lyndzi agreed with the concerns. Kristine encouraged attendees to talk to their legislators. Carolee noted that our SRO can be counted as our School Guardian since he is on the same campus with MMS next door.
- Adjourn
Carolee made a motion to adjourn the meeting; seconded by Alyssa. Meeting adjourned at 5:05pm.
Next meeting: August 26, 2024, at 4:00pm
