Report of Safety Drill for August -Lori
Our first fire drill went well. We now have our first and second graders coming out to the front of the school which decreased the time it took for everyone to exit the building. Lori noted that the second door coming from the front office was unlocked. Risk Management came out and made some changes. Now the door is always locked and staff must badge out of it. When the fire alarm goes off, the door unlocks automatically.
New Business
Additional Items:
Kwame expressed his wish to discuss allocating money to add coding to the daily curriculum. He has discussed this with Lori and Steve already. Lori noted that this conversation can continue and will likely need to go to a bigger conversation with the District. Lori noted that one opportunity may be a Techniteer Program. We had Girls Who Code two years ago as well. Conversation to continue on this. Lori noted that her responsibility is to meet the needs of ALL children, from those who need more supports to those who are excelling in academics.
Alyssa noted frustrations in coming into the parking lot to drop off in the morning. Lori noted that Risk Management has been out looking at parking lot issues. Some changes have been made, including making sure all staff park in the faculty lot to increase available spots for parents. It is a constant issue that we continue to work on! Lori will approach Risk Management again about the possibility of closing off Oak Street and only having an entrance from Wasatch, OR adding permanent barriers so that parents can’t do a u-turn until the “roundabout.”
Reviewed list of SCC meetings for the year, which are posted on the website. Motion to approve the dates was made by Alyssa and seconded by Margaret. All in favor; no one opposed. Dates are approved.
Meeting adjourned at 4:55pm with a motion by Kwame.
